(21) Mixed Diglossini, May 5, 1965. V. of the mountain really was uttered by a Caer?????? [[margin]] Albi Baru Gen [[/margin]] NOTE: looking over my notes made at the Boqueron de Tollo in 1962. I see that the territories of Baris and Albis apparently did [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] overlap there, although both species occur low in scrub. [[underlined]] And [[/underlined]] the populations of both species were not small there (the population of Baris was relatively large [[underlined]] and [[/underlined]] concentrated). So it would appear that microgeographic segregation of different species of scrub-inhibiting Diglossas may be characteristic of the [[underlined]] whole [[/underlined]] Western Cordillera. May 6, 1965 Munchique Arrive same Cy area as yesterday morning 5:50 a.m. Cys apparently not around. Certainly not singing. [[margin]] Cy 99 [[/margin]] Finally see single [[checkmark]] Cy 6:27. Flying from tree to tree. High up. 40-50 ft. Silent and alone. SEE ALSO TODAY'S NOTES ON GENERAL MIXED FLOCKS. [[margin]] Sittis Cy WCC [[/margin]] (Sittis as leaders of flocks. Sittis in flocks without WCC's. Cys feeding in low scrub. Cy apparently taking nectar from tubular red flowers.) [[margin]] Gen [[/margin]] Obviously, some of my previous statements about the behavior of Sittis and Cys here are nothing more than generalizations about their [[underlined]] usual [[/underlined]] activities and preferences. There are exceptions to most of the rules. [[margin]] Cy [[/margin]] The fact that the Cys here has been so quiet today is further evidence that all the excitement yesterday was due to the presence of a third individual. P.M.
