Mixed Diglossini, Aug. 11, 1965, IV. (72) (possibly same species seen on Guadelupe above Bogotá) visits flowers briefly. [[underlined]] Also puts bill to bases corollas! [[\underlined]] ^[[20 Cy Coer]] Well! Well! Well! 7:25 am. Single Cy ^[[checkmark]] (definite) appears. Moving up hill thru "mature-looking scrub" (possibly coming from what looks like "upper subtropical forest" way down below. [[underlined]] Passes thru some of the bushes visited by Coers yesterday. [[/underlined]] Silent. 3-6 ft up. Apparently does not feed. Then passes thru PII. [[underlined]] Shows no interest in the flowers. [[/underlined]] Then passes over ridge and down into tall forest on the other side (where I can hear [[underlined]] Basileuterus [[/underlined]] and/or [[underlined]] Hemispingus [[/underlined]] type R's and Flourishes.) Apparently on its way to join mixed flock! So Coer and Cy territories or ranges are at least partly overlapping here. Not stratified. ^[[Cy]] NOTE: Altho Cy probably is essentially a bird of tall forest, this does not mean that it does not occur in "dwarf" forest occasionally (viz also the top of Munchique itself). Everything very quiet now 7:35 am. ^[[Albi 21]] Back to PI 7:49. Single [[male symbol]] ^[[checkmark]] Albi hops out of low scrub. (Identification definite - see both gray color and white patches). This bird is tail-less! Did it lose its tail during the fight earlier this morning? Hops rapidly up into PI. Feeds on at least 8 different flowers. [[underlined]] Definitely cutting into sepals! [[/underlined]] (And the cutting seems to be quite a struggle too!). Then flies away. ^[[Albi Gen]] [[underlined]] So it definitely is the Albis that are being "parasitized by hummingbirds! [[/underlined]] ^[[Albi]] Incidentally, this bird was absolutely silent throughout. Not even a trace of a "CN". (I was only a couple of feet away from it.) [[underlined]] Was it silent "in order" to avoid attracting the attention of the local [[/underlined]]
