Mixed Diglossini, May 10, 1965, (11)

6:15 am. Hear some more formless, faint, high pitched Twitters. Single phrases. No Intro Notes. Then silence. Then some more Whitestart Songs. Then hear some Twitters "Duh-duh-duh duh-duh-duh" [[image - dash-line drawing that describes the pitch of the song]]

^[[Cy 127]] Apparently uttered by Blue Diglossa, presumably. At least, I see ^[[checkmark]] Blue Diglossa same area just after Twitters stop. Are these the very lowest intensity Cy Song. When this bird first began to Sing, nothing else was audible. Then this bird stopped. Whitestart began. Then this bird and Whitestart alternated phrases. Then this bird shut up again. Whitestart continued for a while.

^[[Cy]] Now a [[underlined]] different [[/underlined]] bird in same bush as Blue Diglossa utters (more) Song phrases. Quite similar to "Duh-duh-duh...." type transcribed above, but a little longer and more formless. And now I see that they are being uttered by a [[underlined]] brownish [[/underlined]] bird. But light is atrocious and I can't tell if bird is CC or [[underlined]] wren [[/underlined]]. Then this bird shuts up, seems to disappear 6:25. And then I see Cy (back?) in bush. [[underlined]] Feeding on dark red cup-shaped flowers [[/underlined]] (definite). Silent

This area is approximately 100 yds from where Ater and CC seen yesterday.

Again, everything dead quiet, 6:37. Must be the weather. It is now very cloudy, relatively dark, [[underlined]] no [[/underlined]] wind. Sort of suspenseful!

Now some Whitestarts Singing in distance.

^[[Blue Laf 129 130]] 6:45. 2 ^[[2 checkmarks]] Blue Diglossas fly by. Silent and alone. Land in scrub only a few feet from where Ater seen late yesterday morning. [[underlined]] Immediately [[/underlined]] nearby [[underlined]] Laf [[/underlined]] ^[[checkmark]] begins to Sing. Blue Diglossas fly away. [[underlined]] Laf shuts up [[/underlined]]. This would certainly suggest that there is some Laf-Cy hostility here!!!

^[[Cy Ater Laf CC 131]] Single Cy back in bushes. Apparently feeding insects. 6 ft up. In general area where Laf, Ater, and CC have been seen. But no other Diglossa
