Mixed Diglossini, May 16, 1965, V (35)

audible or visible at the time. Hummingbird soon flies on.

What has happened to the adult and juv. Ater here?

^[[Ater 183 Laf]] Speak of the devil! 9:18. Single Ater ^[[checkmark]], adult, appears moving thru low scrub only a few ft from where I am sitting. This is [[underlined]] well [[/underlined]] within area in which Laf has been seen to range. Ater is silent and alone. Laf not visible or audible at the time. So it would appear that the territories of this Ater and Laf also overlap, partially, and/or that Ater may range into Laf territory when the owner is "away" (presumably at opposite end of territory).

^[[Ater Laf]] A few minutes later, see what is undoubtedly same individual Ater feeding in adjacent bushes 5-10 ft above ground. Silent and alone. Apparently looking for insects on leaves. Flies off in direction Laf went earlier.

^[[VIII]] 9:40 am. Green VIII hummingbirds feeding bush A (again)

Going down hill again 10:00 am.

^[[Laf]] Whitestarts still Singing occasionally Then shut up. Then hear one Laf Song

Rain starting. Very light. 10:15am.

^[[Laf 184]] See single Laf ^[[checkmark]] alone. 4 ft up in dense scrub.

^[[Cy Laf? 186]] 10:20. See Black ^[[checkmark]] Diglossa chasing a Blue ^[[checkmark]] in flight. In area where I know both Cy and Laf live. The Blue, in fact, was almost certainly a Cy which had been associated with nearly mixed flock a minute earlier. This flock dispersed when I arrived. Probably the Cy, in its panic at my appearance, flew into bush too near to Laf.

^[[Laf Cinn 187]] See undoubted Laf ^[[checkmark]] same area a few seconds later. It is repeatedly Swooped at by Cinnamon.

^[[Laf Ater 189]] 10:40. Now see [[underlined]] 2 ^[[two checkmarks]] Black [[/underlined]] Diglossas engaged in chase same area. One of them definitely a Laf (seen aftwerwards). But chasing also accompanied
