Mixed Diglossini, July 27, 1965, II. (75) ^[[Cy]] wood. Only a few yards from where Cy seen last week. Ranging 6-10 ft up. One or (more probably) both Singing frequently. All Songs composed of rapid Twitters, [[underlined]] preceded by 2 or (more often) 4 [[/underlined]] Intro Notes. Comme ça:"Tsit tsit tsit-tsit [[irregular line]]" Songs given from unritualized diagonal-horizontal postures [[image - drawing of a bird with bill open and tongue raised]] Front part of crown sometimes slightly "ruffled", but this appears to be largely "accidental". More important, [[underlined]] the tongue is always raised during the Twitter [[/underlined]]. (I think the bill is kept wide open throughout the Twitter. But mandibles presumably move a little with the notes.) All these Songs appear to be "Greeting" and/or "Landing" Calls It is interesting that they include Intro Notes, [[underlined]] altho (or in spite of the fact) that the two birds usually are close together. [[/underlined]] ^[[Cy Scan]] [[underlined]] All the Cy Songs are completely overlapped by "Chuck" Songs of several Scans. [[/underlined]] But none of the Scans are very close. At least 50 yards away. Cys move quickly thru vegetation - apparently not feeding - and then disappear from view. ^[[68]] At one time, there certainly was a third bird ^[[checkmark]] near these Cy's About 6 ft up. Unfortunately, I couldn't identify it. It [[underlined]] might [[/underlined]] have been a third Cy. ^[[Albi]] 6:55 am. There is a medium-small green hummingbird feeding on the purple flowers favored by Albis. Apparently no Diglossini around at the time. 6:58 Hear some R's. Again completely overlapped by Scan "Chuk"
