Mixed Diglossini, July 27, 1965, III. (76)

^[[Scan Albi]] Songs. But nothing else audible at the time. R's continue steadily for some minutes. Scans also continue, but with occasional brief pauses. Thus, most of the R's are completely overlapped by Scan "Chuk" Songs (also by Scan aerial display vocalizations in some cases). Some R's also are uttered during brief periods of Scan silence. Thus, these R's are not overlapped. But this absence of overlapping seems to be "accidental".

^[[Albi 69]] Then, suddenly, a [[male symbol]] ^[[checkmark]] Albi appears in bush quite close to me. Feeding on usual purple flowers. Quite high. 8-15 ft up. This individual is quite silent throughout. [[underlined]] But the R's I have been hearing continue, in distance. [[/underlined]] The [[male symbol]] Albi seems to ignore them completely.

^[[Albi]] While the [[male symbol]] Albi is feeding, I can hear a hummingbird flying around 15 or 20 ft away. Presumably the medium small green species. The [[male symbol]] Albi seems to ignore this bird, too - for some minutes - [[underlined]] but then suddenly swoops down and attacks and chases it furiously. [[/underlined]] Apparently drives the hummingbird completely out of the neighborhood. Then the [[male symbol]] Albi hops around low in bush, only a few inches above ground. Then disappears.

The attack by the [[male symbol]] Albi was quite silent.

As soon as the [[male symbol]] Albi disappears, the medium small green hummingbird comes back! Feeds and perches quite unconcernedly. Certainly not afraid of me!

^[[Albi]] Then the hummingbird suddenly flies away. [[underlined]] Immediately [[/underlined]] a [[female symbol]] Albi appears in area. Hops about in bushes. Silent. 4-8 ft up.

^[[Albi]] Then the [[male symbol]] Albi reappears. [[underlined]] Supplants the [[female symbol]] [[/underlined]]!!! Obviously aggressive. This supplant also silent. [[female symbol]] flies away and disappears. [[male symbol]] apparently follows.
