Mixed Diglossini, Aug. 4, 1965, VII. (95)

There certainly are some tall isolated and semi-isolated trees scattered about in the neighborhood. Presumably it is just that the right species of flowers are not present.

^[[VB Cinn]] 8:20 am. Violet-back back. Same tree. Supplanted by Cinnamon. Flies off without resistance. Cinnamon also leaves.

^[[Ater Cinn]] Then Ater flies in (again). Feeds small yellow flowers. [[underlined]] Not [[/underlined]] attacked by local Cinnamons.

^[[Ater Cy]] Ranges or territories of Cy and Ater here are at least adjacent.

^[[VB Ater]] Then Violet-back flies back into tree with small yellow flowers. Ater still there. The two birds feed 5 ft apart. Apparently ignoring one another. Then Violet-back flies off. (Violet-back is [[underlined]] much [[/underlined]] smaller than Ater. Perhaps it is [[underlined]] too [[/underlined]] small to be irritating ???)

Then Ater also leaves.

^[[Ater]] A few minutes later, 8:31 am., hear Cy Song phrases nearby. Twitters with Intro Notes. Lots and lots of phrases. Singing bird(s) invisible at first. But certainly in tree right [[underlined]] next [[/underlined]] to the one with small yellow flowers visited by Ater and Violet-back ("VB").

^[[Ater Cy Cinn VB Laf]] After the Cy songs have continued for a few seconds, Ater flies (back) into tree with small yellow flowers. Silent. Hops around in an excited manner. At least some times, [[underlined]] it must be within 5 ft [[/underlined]] of the Cy(s). At the same time, a single Cinnamon appears. Flits about the tree in which the Cys are. Does [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] attack Ater. Apparently does not try to deliver actual attack on Cys either. Then Ater flies away. Then VB flies into tree with yellow flowers. VB and Cinnamon apparently ignore one another also. Then I see that there is a [[underlined]] single Laf [[/underlined]], 1 ft up, at the base of the tree from which the Cy Songs are coming. (This [[underlined]] must [[/underlined]] be a different individual from the one seen
