Songs. NODWAH. Stop.

Starting downhill 9:20am

[[margin]] Gen Nocti [[?]][[/margin]]
COMMENT: Some of the patches of second growth scrub near, below, the edge of the USTF where I have been working look suitable (although "sub-optimal) for carbonaria s.l. The fact that they do not seem to be occupied by individuals of the local form of this superspecies (which I shall call "Nocti") indicates that they are less favorable than they appear, or (more probably?)that the local population of Noctis is small. Viz the care of Gloriss [[?]] in the Western Cordellira of Colombia.

[[margin]] Albi [[/margin]]
FURTHER COMMENT (P.M.): Although I have seen Albis with flocks quite surprisingly frequently around here, this does not necessarily mean that the local population of Albi is much more gregarious than other populations. It is my impression that all the Albi joining here may (also) be essentially hostile.

Mixed Diglossini, I August 14,1967
Santa Marta Region

Going to work along "highway" above Station (same area as yesterday afternoon) again this morning.

Leave Station 5:05 am. Reach first patch scrub 5:10. Starting to get light. But birds still silent

Weather is clear and good-so far.

Hear first bird sounds 5:21. More or less twittering. Unidentified. Then thrush sounds. And various other things. But on the whole not very loud or varied.
