Mixed Diglossini, Aug. 14, 1967, III

group. Two of the Cheeks go 20 ft up in adjacent USTF. tree. Then I see that there is a tree 93 creeper 20 ft up in still another adjacent tree. Tanager flies off. Apparently nothing follows.

Then whole group disappears. Presumably gone uphill. COMMENT: It certainly looks as if the Cheek Atlapetes were the "original nucleus" of this flock.

A few minutes later, a single "Brown Whitestart" ✓30 appears (again?) in low scrub. Apparently alone now. But then it joins ✓94 a Golden-backed Woodpecker Altapete ✓95 25 ft up in tree. (This woodpecker is CXXXI)

A few minutes later see "Brown Whitestart" ✓31 apparently alone again. 6 ft up bamboo thicket.

6:15 am. See a couple of small hummingbirds fighting. Aerial chasing.

Then more Whitestart CXXVII Song NODWAH. Doesn't stimulate anything. Shuts up.

[] Albi []
6:24 am Walking back down road a few
yards. See single ♀ ✓32 Albi, 2-4 ft up in open low scrub edge road. Alone. apparently picking insects off leaves. Utters occasional rather short and rather low pitched R's as she does so. NODWAH. Shuts up. Flies off. Immediately a Whitestart CXXVII begins to Sing. (Looks almost as if Whitestart were stimulated by Albi.) NODWAH. Shuts up.

6:32. See pair ✓✓34 Bright Ruddy Fly catchers fly catching same place as yesterday afternoon. Uttering R's. Definitely alone.

Then more Whitestart CXXVII Songs. NODWAH.

Well! Well! Well! Go up side path into USTF. SEE
