Mixed Diglossini, Apr.4, 1965, III

Rain starting 4:20pm.

There is also a ♂ Blackburnian feeding in another Eucalypt (I presume this is Blackburnian — orange & black with white on wing) Alone. Apparently looking for insects.

[]XCC[]
Same XCC as yesterday back same place in Erythrina tree, 4:32pm. Feeding on blossoms. But this time sticking bill into top of corollas!!! Quite alone. Apparently silent.

[]XCC[]
Are there two “types” of “XCC” here? I thought I saw another small bird earlier, generally grayish, with white wing patch like cc, a white abdomen, and dark vent!! (Did I get confused with a ♀ Goldfinch somehow????? Probably yes

The XCC with greenish wings definitely does not have a wing patch.

[]XCC[]
4:45. I just saw this XCC supplant a couple of other small birds, but unfortunately I didn't identify the latter.

Again. Again, I didn't identify the bird(s) supplanted.

[]XCC[]
When the aggressive "green wing" XCC (whom I shall call "Φ" from now on) feeds on Erythrina flowers again. This time poking at bases.

It's throat may be slightly yellowish. Its rump is a brighter yellow-green than the wings.

[]BQ XCC[]
There is at least one BQ feeding in same tree. But not (usually) at the same time or in the same place.

4:55 Now there is a pair of BQ's feeding on exactly the same clump of flowers that Φ fed on earlier. Φ nowhere in sight at the time. BQ's are definitely pecking at bases of corollas!

[]BQ Bari[]
There is also a ♀ Bari about 10 ft away from the BQ's. Look
