Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 4, 1965, V

[] Laf Gen []
This explains why lafresnayei subspecies tend to be rare in regions where rufous-bellied carbonaria s.l. ssp. occur.

[] Bari Gen []
Baritula s.l. may be comparable to carbonaria s.l. Rufous-bellied forms occur in relatively dry areas - and may, conceivably, be confined to such areas. The only gray-bellied form with which I am familiar occurs in a relatively humid area (Cerro Punta)

Paramo La Negra

Arrive place where I did most of my work in 1962 6:05 am. Still quite dark. Cloud in sky. But no fog (yet). Cold.

6:25. Still not quite light. Quite a lot of bird songs in neighborhood. But not very loud. Sounds mostly like sub-ossines. Also some thrush calls. I have yet to hear anything that sounds diglossini.

6:36. Hear a few short song phrases which probably are uttered began Altapetes. All more or less variations of
"Ta seeeeeeee Seee"
[[diagram]]
Sometimes extra "Teee" added on end.
Also some "Ta - reeeeeeee ta-ta-ta" type phrases

6:45 See one of those maroon crested montane cotingas around perched quite alone
