Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 13, 1965, III.

[]Gen XCC[]
8:12. ♀ Redstart around in tree where XCC usually lurks. Then she flies off. And I see XCC only a few feet away. There also was a ♂ Blackburnian in tree at same time as Redstart (but not close to her).

[]Albi Colibri Bari[]
Well! Well! Well! 8:15 am. Watching usual Erythrina tree. Suddenly a ♀ Albi flies in (identified without doubt). Starts to feed on clumps flowers in usual way. Silent and alone. NOD. ♀ Albi ignores elaenias, BT's and coruscans in tree at same time. Then a ♂ Bari flies in. Lands on far side of tree (at least 30 ft away) from ♀ Albi silent. Apparently alone. Starts to feed. He seems to ignore ♀ Albi and vice versa. Then I see that there is also a ♀ Bari in tree. About 30 ft from both ♂ Bare and ♀ Albi.

Also silent and peaceful at first. Then suddenly a wild series of chases develops. Definitely initiated by ♂ Bari! She supplants the ♂ Albi!!! But then all three birds get involved in the chase. I can't tell who is doing what and to whom. Eventually ends up with ♂ Bari and ♂ Albi both still in tree, but at opposite sides. []Bari Albi BQ[] Apparently ignoring one another (again). By this time, I have lost sight of ♂Bari. Then a BQ flies into tree. Lands some distance from both ♀ Albi and ♀ Bari. Silent. Begins to feed on clumps of flowers. But suddenly the ♀ Bari flies at the BQ. Chases it round and round the tree. Supplants it at least 8 times!!! During this chasing, the ♀ Albi seems to disappear. And eventually I lose sight of both the other birds.

I don't know why this ♀ Bari was so aggressive!

[]BQ Bari[[/margin]]
(The BQ that was chased was rather dull-colored; but too bright to be a juvenile, I think. Adult ♀? Does the ♀ Bari attack
