Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 1, 1965, I

[] Glor []
7:35 am. Region of second growth scrub. Where Glor seen in 1962. Hear a couple of Glor Song phrases. No R component. NODWA.

[] Gen []
There are lots of salmon-pink Passiflora flowers around here, in various places.

[] 28 Albi Carbonaria []
7:45. Some distance further on. See ✓✓ single ♂ Albi ✓✓ (1) fly across clearing into scrub under trees. Silent in flight. And definitely alone. But then, when he gets into the scrub, he apparently becomes involved in dispute with some other (unidentified) bird. And I hear R during dispute. Presumably uttered by ♂ Albi (but I am not sure that I can distinguish between "simple" R's of Albi and those of carbonaria s.l.)

8:01. Still further along path. Region second growth scrub. Hear more Albi R's. NODWA.

(Albis here certainly are not always in scrub under trees.)

[] Cy []
COMMENT. This does not seem to be one of the regions where Cys frequently are members of mixed flocks.

[] Scan Gen []
NOTE: There was a lot of rain in Mérida itself this afternoon. Finally stopped, in the evening. All during the afternoon, I heard Colibri sp. sounds (both "cluck" song and hostile Twitters). Finally, ca 6:25 pm., I went out to look for the birds uttering the sounds. Saw and identified one individual. Definitely Scan. (This makes it likely that the Colibri(s) seen near Chorros de Milla in April also were Scans!)

[] Scan []
The Scans here are so vocal now that they probably are in breeding condition.

[] Scan []
The Scan seen this afternoon was feeding on Eucalyptus flowers in the hotel garden. These Eucalyptus seem to be favored by all the nectar-feeding
