Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 5, 1965, III.

with group. And Singing while LAfs are silent. NODWAH.

[] Cy Laf []
7:13. Cy shuts up. And Lafs begin to Sing again almost immediately. Also NODWAH.

[] Cy Laf []
So Cy-Laf Song overlaps may not by typical of this area!!!
Possibly occur only when Lafs are particularly excited.

[] Cy Laf []
Laf shut up. Cy Sings again. No overlap. Cy shuts up. Lafs sing again. Again no overlap!

[] Laf []
Lafs Singing full blast again 7:32. Still NODWAH. Then shut up.

[] Cy 21 Laf Cy []
Then I go downhill. See single Cy alone. Sings repeatedly. All songs typical. At first NODWAH. Then Lafs begin to Sing again, in distance. And now the Cy and Laf Songs are overlapping apparently at random. 7:40. This Cy seems to by very highly motivated. Singing phrase after phrase without any intervening pauses. From a variety of trees in a wide expanse of AS. It's territory or range certainly is very large. As usual for the species (apparently everywhere)

[] Cy Laf Laf []
Then Cy flies off. Lafs continue to Sing. NODWAH.
Go for walk down road. Then up again. Lafs still Singing vigorously 9:04am. Still NODWAH.

[] Laf []
NOTE: The side of the mountain where all there Lafs occur faces more or less directly went. I.E. it does not get sun early in the morning. So I walk up hill a few yards more and over crest, to east slope.
I hear some Laf Song (NODWAH) here 9:33; but considerably less than on the west slope.

[] Laf []
The area at La Negra where I have worked faces more or less due east. This might help to explain why Lafs do not occur there. (It should be mentioned, however, that I have worked on both east and west slopes of Pico Erpejo.)

[] Glor []
Certainly there is no Glor Song audible on this east slope here now.
