Mixed Diglossini, Sept. 28, 1962, III.

[] Laf []
8:12 am. See another apparent pair ✓✓ of Lafs. This is probably the height of the breeding season for them too.
[] Laf []
Lafs apparently also utter single "Seeeet" notes in flight, at least occasionally, but these notes are shorter than the long "Seeeeet" better "Seeeeeeeet" Notes uttered by Rufs.
[] Ruf []
Rufs obviously much less common than Lafs here. As far as I know, I have only seen 1 pair Rufs here.
[] Gen []
Conirostrum species would appear to be always much less common than Diglossa spp. Why? Insects rarer than flowers at these altitudes?

Birds apparently less common down hill, or at least less vocal now, 8:20. Still the only thing I hear is Laf

[] Coer? []
8:28 Hear what may be a Coer singing. Phrases beginning with 1 or 2 "Freee" or "Frooweee" notes, followed immediately by short warble or twitter. 2 birds fly out of the bush from which these songs were uttered but unfortunately I couldn't identify them.
[] Laf []
There were no Lafs singing in area at the same time. In fact, there may be no Lafs in area at all. Vegetation looks similar to that of area where Lafs were common; but tubular red flowers are less common here.

8:35am. See single Basileuterus nigrocristatus. Quite alone!

[] Laf Coer []
8:45. Can hear Laf singing down here (below where the possible Coers were heard). 8:47 Now hear several Lafs singing in exactly same area where possible Coers occurred

[] Laf []
9:05 Back up hill, To area where first saw Lafs. Find them singing still quite commonly

[] Laf []
9:20. Hear Lafs 200 or 300 ft. down hill from lowest point of my down hill walk taken earlier

Working around city parks in Bogota in the afternoon.
