Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 16, 1965, VII

[] Humer Laf ✓✓✓ []
two Humers and one Laf. (This Laf definitely same individual that was in adjacent trees this morning. Can be recognized individually because has light feathers, or smear, on forehead.) Lots of chasing back and forth, attacks, and supplants. At least 3 times, the Laf supplants one or both Humers. At least once, one Humer supplants Laf. Nevertheless, Laf seems to be establishing itself in this area, which was presumably, pure Humer territory earlier.

[] Humer Laf []
Some of the attacks and supplants are accompanied by R-Zaza patterns. Even, apparently, when Laf is attacking Humer (rather than vice versa).

[] Humer Laf []
Every once in a while, Laf starts to feed on flowers. Then lets one or both Humers feed in same tree 20-30 ft away. But the fighting soon breaks out again.

[] Humer []
Every once in a while, one or both Humers fly(ies) into adjacent low scrub. But soon goes back to trees again.

4:05 pm. Everything suddenly quiet. Only one bird left. In "original Humer" trees. This bird seems to be a Humer! [[strikethrough]] ✓ [[strikethrough]] Has Laf gone to Prime Eucalypts? Or Uphill?

Rain starting. Still very light.
