[[Things"?]]. Then see ✓(3)✓ small brownish fly catcher between PR's and PL's.
[[left margin]] Ruf [[/left margin]]
Also going in same direction. Silent. Then see at least 1 [[underlined]]Ruf[[underlined]] ✓✓(4) and 1 Firebelly ✓✓(5) flitting around head of procession, near PR's. Both probably quiet. Whole group proceeds together until I lose sight of it around a bend in the road. PR's consistently stay low. Feed in unburned scrub, 1-2ft above ground. Also come down to the bare earth of the road from time to time. PL's also low, but less so on average. Stick to scrub, both burned and unburned, 1-4ft above ground. Flycatcher & Ruf probably range over similar heights in similar places. Firebelly probably averages higher. All the birds eventually cross back and forth over road. But not usually simultaneously. This definitely was quite a [[underlined]]coherent[[underlined]] flock - but the numbers of it were scattered over a wide area. PL's and Flycatcher definitely followers.
[[margin]] Ruf [[/margin]]
Following repeatedly, again & again & again. The PR's, Ruf(s), and Firebelly(ies) in front. Couldn't really see who was leading who in this front group.
[[margin]] Ruf [[/margin]]
At least once PR j----->Ruf. At least once PR f----->Ruf. At least once Ruf j----->PR.

7:50 Twitter along road. Come across part pf what may be same flock. Hear Atlapetes twitters. See [[underlined]]pair[[underlined]] Rufs✓✓. Feeding on dry look white umbellifer flower heads (probably probing for insects). Also see White bearded Flycatcher ✓ nearby (this definitely is not same species seen with flock earlier).

[[margin]] Gen [[/margin]]
This area is only a 100 yards or so from where I first saw brilliantly colored mixed flock in 1962!!! Possibly some of same birds involved? In any case, this suggests remarkable stability of social organization (especially in view of all the recent burning)!
