Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 18, 1965, VI

there; but all other birds gone. I.E. the Whitebeard(s) did not follow the others very far (Probably only accompany mixed flocks within their own territories???)
8:53. Can't see anything around Laf territory area. Fog is in again.

Leaving 9:05 am.

[] Coer Cy []
COMMENT:

I don't know what is the ecological differences between Coer & Cy. It is obvious that they overlap very, very broadly indeed. But the fact that Coers occur at the Paramó La Negra in Venezuela would suggest that they are capable of surviving in drier areas than Cy. They may differ from Cy in much the same way as carbonaria s.l. and baritula s.l. differ from lafresnayei and albilatera.

Back on Guadelupe this afternoon. Working at lower area (i.e. with Rufs, Lafs, Humers, Cys, Coers, etc.) where I worked in 1962. Arrive 3:40 pm. Overcast. But no fog or rain. Quite warm.

[] Ruf VI 28 Bari? Ruf Bari? []
See mixed flock immediately. Includes 2 ✓✓ Rufs, 2 ✓✓ PR Atlapetes, 2 ✓✓ Firebellies, and what appears to be ♀ Bari ✓ (only glimpsed). When flock seen first, PR's in lead, with Rufs behind them, Firebellies behind Rufs, and ♀ Bari bringing up rear. But then the Rufs leap frog over the PR's. Firebellies f--> Rufs. "♀ Bari" f-->. All birds quite silent. In dense, fairly low, second growth scrub. All singing 3-10 ft above ground.

4:15 pm. The sun is out now! And everything, naturally, is very quiet.

[] 95 []
4:20. See single Firebelly ✓. Quiet. Apparently alone.
