Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 20, 1965, X

[[margin]] Bari Humer [[/margin]]
Humers. Also prefer the flowers of "Chorillos" (the low clusters of tubular orange flowers mentioned in my notes of 1962 [[image: sketch of flower]] ) much more strongly than do Humers.
[[margin]] Bari Humer [[/margin]]
I.E. the Humers and Baris here are quite definitely semi-segragated ecologically - even though their "micro-geographical" ranges may overlap completely (or nearly completely)

April 21, 1965
University, Bogotá

Arrive Facultad de Farmacia 5:25 am. Still pitch black. It must be very cloudy now.

There is a small amount of bird song. Apparently all or largely thrush and Zonotrichia 5:40 am

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
5:45 am. Hear Humer R-Zazas up in adjacent Eucalypts

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
Then hear Humer singing Twitter phrases, each ending with 2 R's. In small tree near yellow Abu.

[[margin]] Scan [[/margin]]
Scans feeding in Abu 5:49.

[[margin]] Humer Scan [[/margin]]
Humer continues songs throughout several minutes while Scans are noisy. Then flies up into tall adjacent Eucalypt. Hear R-Zazas.

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
Back Singing small tree 5:52. Finally see bird. Definitely Humer. Then flies to Abu. Preens. Supplanted by some brownish bird. Zonotrichia?

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
Now there are two Black Diglossas chasing one another madly through and around Abu. At least one definitely Humer. Some R-Za zas, but most of chase silent.
