Mixed Diglossini, Apr.21, 1965, III.

[[margin]] Gen [[/margin]]
Apparently the various nectarivorous species around here do very little inter-specific disputing at dawn.

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
There are at least 6 or 7 Humers in this area.

[[margin]] Humer Scan [[/margin]]
One Humer supplants Zonotrichia while ignoring 2 Scans which are as close or closer.

[[margin]] Bari [[/margin]]
[[underlined]]♂[[underlined]] Bari feeds in large Abu while Humers and Scans both apparently absent. Then flies away when orioles arrive.

[[margin]] Bari [[/margin]]
A minute later, see ♀ Bari feeding same place. Again Humers and Scans both apparently absent.

[[margin]] Humer Bari [[/margin]]
Humer twice supplants ♂ Bari in low plants below Abus. No R-Zaza's. ♂ Bari retreats without resistance. 6:28 am.

None of the individuals here can be the same as the individuals seen yesterday.

[[margin]] Scan Humer [[/margin]]
Scans, feeding peacefully on Abu, definitely attacked and chased by Humer. 6:32.

[[margin]] Gen [[/margin]]
Inter-specific fighting now in full swing!

[[margin]] Bari Albi [[/margin]]
♀ Bari in Abu. Ignored by Scans only a foot or so away. But once, she lowers her head, spreads her wings horizontally, and raises her tail diagonally, when they come too close to her.

[[margin]] Bari [[/margin]]
Then ♀ Bari flies off into non-flowering tree.

[[margin]] Bari [[/margin]]
Is Bari here more insectivorous than the Humer and Scan. Remember the ♂ Bari seen yesterday spent comparatively large amounts of time in the conifer-like tree.

[[margin]] Scan Bari [[/margin]]
6:38. Scan feeds on chorrillo flowers (i.e. flowers supposedly preferred by Baris).

6:40-6:50. Go for small walk. Two other small gardens, full of red and yellow Abus, chorillos, and other flowers, only a couple
