Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 23, 1965, IX

Back to original Laf-Cy area 9:15 am. Everything very quiet. No birds visible.

[] Laf 109 []
A little further on, see single thrush alone. Then a single Laf alone.

Leaving 9:25 am.

COMMENT: This morning's observations would seem to amply confirm yesterday's.

NOTE: The pink tubular flowers seen all over the Andes (drawn p. 55, Sierra de Merida) are Passiflora. The species growing here in Bogota (at least) is P. mollissima, HBK Bailey.

The local eucalyptus (which seems to be the common one all over the Andes - although not at Merida) is Eucalyptus globulus, Lavill.

The flowers I have been calling chorillos are Kniphophia uvania, Hook.

The generic name of the Abu is, in fact, Abutilon! I don't know the species. It is an exotic here. A member of the Malvaceae.
