Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 24, 1965 II

[] Albi []
away immediately. Small brown bird not definitely identified, but almost certainly Albi female. As soon as birds leave, I hear a sudden outburst Albi R's. The first I have heard today.
Lots of hummingbirds around here; but nothing much in the way on conspicuous flowers.

[] Blue []
6:52 am. See Blue Diglossa, almost certainly Cy, hopping around low in tangles uttering "CN"s. Apparently alone. Now uttering "SHN"s. In singlets and doublets.
       Definitely hear Firebellies in distance.
Also something which sounds like Laf but is presumably a White start. Also something that sounds like Blue and Orange.

[] Albi []
6:59. See single female Albi in thick tangle. Utters single "Frit" notes. It is joined by another bird. I think, the male.
Go on several hundred feet further up hill without seeing anything more. But still lots of bird noises in thickets (it became cloudy almost immediately after dawn this morning. Could this explain why everything is keeping under cover now???)

[] Humer []
COMMENT: The inter-specifie attack by a Hummer included above is most magnificent. It could not have been an "unusual incident", due to an "artificial" concentration of birds near a particularly good food source. There was nothing comparable to an Erytteria or Eucalyptus around. Very few flowers edible at all this morning. And what flowers there were, were in small, scattered clusters.

[] Albi Humer []
Incidentally, having seen more female Albi's later in the morning, I am now quite certain that the bird attacked by the Hummer was a female Albi!

Should indents be included?
