Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 27, 1965, III

ce.
[[left margin]] IX 36 [[/left margin]]
6:23 See single PR √ and single Firebelly √ feeding close together in low scrub. Then Firebelly flies off. PR does not follow. This is area where mixed flock seen several days ago.

[[left margin]] Cy [[/left margin]]
Cy still singing distance. NOD
PR-Firebelly birds may well be first to form as mixed flock(s) assemble in the morning.

[[left margin]] Laf Humer Laf Cy [/left margin]]
6:31. Go further along path. Hear Laf singing. Overlapping R-Zaza's by Humers. Also Rattle-Flourish type calls which may be by B. nigrocristatus. Then this Laf shuts up. Another (?) begins singing some distance away. I must say that Lafs started late this morning. (As far as I could tell, Cy had shut up before Laf(s) began to sing.) Then Laf shuts up.

[[margin]] Humer 127 [[/margin]]
All morning, I have seen single √√√√ Humers from time to time. They don't show much tendency to flock together, themselves, here.

6:45. See pair PR's √√ moving thru scrub. Low. Alone. Occasionally utter loud bursts Greeting Twitter. Parts of the Twitter often sound rather like Laf song!!!

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]]
Then one burst PR Twitter seems to provoke Laf song! Partial overlap. Laf continues after PR's shut up. Then shuts up itself.

[[margin]] Laf Cy [[/margin]]
This Laf's territory probably also overlaps that of the local Cy.

Everything quiet 6:50 am.

[[margin]] Humer Laf [[/margin]]
PR's now moving steadily thru scrub, thru territories several Humers (and probably also Laf), without being joined by anything.

[[margin]] Humer 132 [[/margin]]
Well! Dispute bewteen 3 √√√ Humers. Hopping about rather close together in same bush. Lots of R's. Little or not za-za! Once one bird utters R, while perched. Facing opponent. Definitely no Zaza
