Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 27, 1965, IV 100

[[margin]] Humer [[/margin]]
Standing ordinary picture as it begins R. Then lifts tail gradually, until it is diagonal, between slightly drooped wings, as R continues. Lowers tail again when R stops. (Is this reminiscent of ♂ Albis?) Posture more or less comme ça [[image of bird]]
Then the third bird disappears.
[[margin]] 133 [[/margin]]
A minute later, when PR ✓ lands in same bush, both remaining Humers hop away from it. Do not follow it when it moves on.

[[margin]] Laf Humer [[/margin]]
7:06 More Laf Song. NOD. Then Laf shuts up. Goes down into scrub to feed. Area where this Laf is does not seem to be occupied by Humers. I.E. territories probably mutually exclusive here too.

[[margin]] Laf Humer 134 [[/margin]]
Then Laf begins to Sing again. This appears to stimulate another Diglossine to Sing in distance. Uttering Twitters. Cy??? Anyhow, there is a lot of overlap. Laf shuts up. Other diglossine continues. Then I see that the other diglossine is a Humer ✓! Definite. Uttering very short weak Twitters. Without R in most cases. In only a few phrases, is the very faint "adumbration" of an R at the end. This must be very low intensity! First indications of breeding season!

I am sure that there is at least 1 pair B. nigrocristatus here. But they certainly are keeping away from the PR's!

[[margin]] X 39 Laf 136 [[/margin]]
7:23. Pair of Firebellies ✓✓ lands in tree in Laf territory. About 10-15ft away from where Laf is at the time. Laf ✓ moves steadily toward them. Finally sits for a minute or so only 1 ft from nearest Firebelly. Probably utters 1 brief Song phrase there. Then flies away. Firebellies ✓✓
