distance), and more Whistle Songs by Atlapetes. None of them overlapped by any other!

[] Humer Laf []
It is possible that some of the Hummers here are in breeding condition. At least to some (little) extent. But certainly the Lafs are not. Thus it is possible that breeding seasons of Lafs and Humers are only partly overlapping. This should help to reduce the competition between the two species

[] Scan Humer []
Scans going full blast 8:08 am. Then I hear some (5-6) Humer Songs in distance. All with sub-terminal R’s. Most (not all) of these Humer Songs are completely overlapped by Scan “Cluck” song. Then both species shut up.

[] Laf ? []
8:35 am. Down by road. See single Laf ✓ ✓[[one check in blue]] (identification definite) chasing another Black Diglossa ✓ ✓ 36 [[1 check & number in blue]] thru low scrub. Pursued apparently a Hummer. Pursuit apparently silent.

Stopping observations 8:40 am

Going to try another area on Guadelupe this afternoon. Arrive high point road to Choachí, 10,000 ft, 3:25 pm. This area is “open” to both east and west lowlands. But generally nearer east side of mountain. Light rain falling, but little or no wind.

[] Humer []
Hear and see Humer ✓44 [[both in blue]] Singing immediately. NODWA. Bird perched 6 ft up. Second growth bush. Near bamboo scrub. Definitely alone. Sitting in diagonal posture with belly very fluffed ( fluffing reaction to rain?) Then flies off. I can hear R’s from area to which it went.

[] Humer []
3:37. Some distance further on, see single Humer ✓ ✓45 [[1 check and number in blue]] silent and alone 20 ft up in Eucalypt. Preening.

[] Ruf Sitti WCC []
4:40 pm. See single Ruf ( described elsewhere). It seems to me that single Rufs are seen relatively much more frequently than either single Sittis or single WCC’s. Does Ruf have a different type of pairing?
