Mixed Diglossini, Jan. 30 1964, IV
[[circled]] 10 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Cy Ater [[/margin]] But does not come any closer than 10 ft. Eventually Ater flies off. Then Cy flies off in opposite direction.

[[margin]] Cy Gen [[/margin]] NOTE: In case my discussion above is not clear, the partial breakdown of inhibitions between Cys and related species here seems to be due to [[underlined]] two [[/underlined]], quite separate, factors:

[[margin]] Cy Ater [[/margin]] (1) Cys may approach and attack Aters because they are very aggressive now (breeding) while the Aters are non-aggressive now (non breeding)

[[margin]] CC Ater Cy Laf [[/margin]] (2) Cc's and Laf's may sing while Cys are singing because they (the CC's and Laf's) are not inhibited by frequent songs by Aters

[[margin]] Ater [[/margin]] It all goes to show how vital is the role of Aters!!!

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] 9:07 a.m. Came across a group of [[underlined]] 3 [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] three checkmarks [[/insertion]] CC's. Alone. Quite a lot of chasing back & forth. And [[underlined]] lots [[/underlined]] of [[underlined]] loud [[/underlined]] twittering song phrases (quite Ater-like in sound). No other diglossinies audible. Most of the twitters may be composed of "Zee-a-wee"s, with variations.
