Mixed Diglossini, Mar. 16, 1966, V [[circled]] 48 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Gen Ater [[/margin]] This [[underlined]] may [[/underlined]] be the species I have been calling "small green and buffy hummingbird." If so, its feeding habits explain why it is attacked by Aters!!!

[[margin]] Laf [[/margin]] 9:16. More Laf Song NODWAH

[[margin]] CC Laf [[/margin]] NOTE: The CC seen earlier this morning certainly flew over an area which I know, now, to be inhabited by several Lafs (at least)

Still more Laf Song 9:30 am

[[margin]] Laf Ater [[/margin]] 9:37, Laf Songs stop. Then hear a few Ater Songs in distance, NODWAH. Aters shut up.

Leaving 9:40 am

March 17, 1966
Road to Baeza

Going to try to go past Papallacta today, on the road to Baeza. Arrive region 9890 ft 6:20 am. Quite light. Patches of fog. Perhaps light rain.

There are nice patches of [[circled]] AS-VSTF [[/circled]] here. Intermingled with pasture.

SEE TODAY'S NOTES ON GENERAL MIXED FLOCKS

[[margin]] Ater? [[/margin]] 7:55 am. Region around 9700 ft. Hear Diglossini Twitter in distance. Ater??? NODWAH

[[margin]] Gen [[/margin]] COMMENTS: This morning's observations certainly would seem to confirm two of my earlier conclusions. [[circled]] 1 [[/circled]] Diglossini are not common in [[underlined]] very [[/underlined]] humid areas. [[circled]] 2 [[/circled]] Diglossini inter-specific hostility is [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] perfectly correlated with "allo-gregariousness" among tanagers and finches.
