Mixed Diglossini, Feb. 12, 1964, VI [[circled]] 23 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Uni [[/margin]] 8:00 am. Both "Unis" ^[[two checkmark above "Unis"]] hopping rapidly about in same tree. Obviously hostile. Lots of supplants. P usually or always the supplanter. P sings a lot between supplants. Normal song. Not fast, not unusually slow. One or both birds also seem(s) to be uttering brief, low, "throaty" R's.
No trace of WHAC or HAC. No trace "Butterfly" patterns.

P's pectoral band really has a [[underlined]] lot [[/underlined]] of rufous in it. This may also be
a sign of intergradation with Ater.,  ^[[?]] if chestnut or rufous is "intermediate" between black and white. (Incidentally, this chestnut or rufous on P looks "dirty." Spotted with black). P also has light streak on side. Looks as if it were on lower border front part wing. Trace of humeral patch???

[[margin]] Uni [[/margin]] Now A is singing on top of tree where fight occurred. P flies into lower part of tree. Hops up toward A. Some chasing and supplanting. With song, and "Tuck" or "Tut" Notes.Then A back on top singing. Then both gone

[[margin]] Cy [[/margin]] 8:17. Go down path a little way. See another Cy ^[[checkmark above Cy]] (not the one I have been observing before). Feeding low scrub. Utters some song phrases. The main bodies of these phrases usually begin with a twitter. Sometimes twitter comprises almost all of the main body of the phrase. I.E. these songs are more like those of the Quito Cys than are those of the other Cys I have heard
around here.

[[margin]] Cy VI [[/margin]] This Cy was repeatedly swooped and darted at by a hummingbird VI But it didn't move off, and the hummer eventually gave up.

[[margin]] Uni [[/margin]] The fight between "Unis" seems to have stopped, at least temporarily.

[[margin]] Brun [[/margin]] Fog lifting 8:25. Everything very quiet. Occasional Brun songs.

[[margin]] Cy Brun [[/margin]] Then Cy starts to sing Some overlap with Brun songs, some alternation 

[[margin]] Brun [[/margin]] One Brun ^[[checkmark above Brun]] does song flight
