Mixed Diglossini, Apr. 2, 1963, IV. [[circled]] 7 [[/circled]]

[[margin]] Scan? [[/margin]] Both Bruns seem to ignore large green hummingbirds fighting and displaying in neighborhood, but don't come any closer than 10 ft of the hummers.

[[margin]] CC Brun [[/margin]] 7:07. Good heavens! Walking on a few feet, to exact spot where I saw CC's yesterday, I see another Brun. In scrub. This bird is just on the opposite side, of the clump of Eucalyptus trees where presumed CC sang this morning. But it is very probably within sight and/or sound of the pair of Bruns I have been watching.

[[margin]] CC Brun [[/margin]] Immediately afterwards, I [[underlined]] see [[/underlined]] a pair of CC's feeding in scrub just below the Eucalypts. I.E. [[underlined]] between [[/underlined]] the pair of Bruns and the presumed single Brun.

Now all birds seem to have disappeared 7:14.

[[margin]] Brun CC [[/margin]] Why didn't I hear more birds singing earlier this morning? All 5 (3 Bruns and 2 CC's) well within earshot of where I was standing

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] Then see pair of CC's feeding peacefully in scrub, still between 2 Brun areas. Uttering "Trit" Notes (probably softer than those of the Bruns) as they do so. Apparently feeding on insects. Certainly [[underlined]] not [[/underlined]] on tubular red flowers. There don't seem to be any flowers of this type in their area.

[[margin]] CC [[/margin]] CC's also ignore hummers in their area.

[[margin]] Brun CC [[/margin]] Now I see single Brun in bush in what is probably CC area. Near edge of area where I saw single Brun earlier. No CC's around, visibly, at same time. Then the Brun flies up into Eucalypt, near where I watched pair of Bruns. Is it a member of pair??? How many Bruns are there here??? If only the pair, then their territory extends thru CC area, and probably on both sides of it!!!
