Mixed Diglossini, June 6, 1966, II
[[circled]] 44 [[/circled]]

up.

[[margin]] Cy [[/margin]] Then see definite mixed flock. Includes at least 1 [[checkmark above 1]] Cy, 2 [[two checkmarks above 2]] Firebellies, 1 PL. Can also hear Whitestart(s) near by. Cy and Firebellies 10 ft up small trees with lavender pink blossoms. PL in scrub. Group probably not highly integrated. PL flies away. No one follows.

[[margin]] Cy [[/margin]] This group was quite noisy. At one time, Cy, PL, and Whitestart were all Singing simultaneously. Broad overlaps!

[[margin]] Linea??? [[/margin]] 6:35 am. 8675 ft. Hear what is either very slow Whitestart or Linea down hill. NODWA. But very brief.

COMMENTS:

[[margin]] WCC Seth [[/margin]] I am pleased to find the WCC here. Perhaps this species differs from seth not so much in preferring lower altitudes as in preferring regions where allogregariousness is particularly highly developed??? (Incidentally, the WCC's observed today were not more sluggish than Seths.)

[[margin]] Linea? [[/margin]] I am fairly certain that I caught a glimpse of a Linea today. In the low, moderately thick, scrub at the very top of one of the subsidiary peaks of Machu Picchu.

[[margin]] Linea [[/margin]] This is an environment in which one would expect to find Laf and Gloriss (and Myst?) In any case, even if I was mistaken this morning in my tentative identification; it is obvious that Linea must be confined to relatively high elevations here. I have passed many areas, at lower elevations, on the far side of the mountain, which look ideal for Pect. Without hearing or seeing a trace of Linea
