Mixed Diglossini, Jun. 8, 1966, I.
[[circled]] 47 [[/circled]]

path. Arrive 8900 ft 5:40 a.m. Clear. Relatively warm. No wind.

First Scan Song begins 5:50 am. Then stops. Then I hear one Atlapetes Song. NODWAH. Stops. Then more Scan.

[] Brun [] 5:58. Hear what sounds like first Brun Song in distance. Pure Twitter. NODWA. Stops.

Then hear some R's which probably are by flycatchers.

6:01. A little farther up path. Hear Whitestart Song NODWA

[] Scan Thalass? [] 6:05. See a Scan (definite) being vigorously chased by a smaller hummingbird (probably Thalass). Interspecific hostility!

[] Scan [] Aside from Scan Songs, everything rather quiet by 6:10.

Then hear more Whitestart-like Song in distance. NODWA

[] Cy [] 6:20. 9025 ft. Hear Cy Song. NODWA

[] Brun [] Then see rather large but diffuse and rather unorganized mixed flock uphill, in rather low, sparse, second growth. Includes at least 1 [[checkmark above 1]] (probably [[circled 1 above probably]] 2) Blue & Blacks, 1 [[checkmark above 1]] Firebelly [[circled 2 above Firebelly]] Circ!), a couple of [[circled 3 and two checkmarks above couple of]] fly catchers, a thrush [[circled 4 above thrush]] (Sooty?), and 2 [[two checkmarks above 2]] Bruns [[circled 5 above Bruns]]. Almost certainly also 2 [[two checkmarks above 2]] Th. cyanocephala [[circled 6 above cyanocephala]]. All 2-6 ft up. All quiet - except Bruns.

[] Brun [] Bruns are chasing one another back and forth. With lots of R-Twitters, R-"Accelerated Twitters", and plain "Accelerated Twitters" (NOTE: I am fairly certain that some of the Brun patterns I heard down below, the other day, and which I called "R-Twitters" were really Accelerated Twitters and/or R-Accelerated Twitters, I.E. Accelerated Twitters are probably just as characteristic of the Bruns here as the Bruns in Bolivia.)

[] Brun [] One of the Bruns also does brief silent TV (without BV or noticeable Belly-fluffing) while facing its opponent or partner).
