Mixed Diglossini, May 19, 1972, I [[circled]] 55 [/circled]] they are overlapped or not. [] Scan Thalass [] 6:02. Both Scan and Thalass Singing, definitely overlapping one another very extensively. I have yet to hear an unmistakable Diglossine Twitter [] Bari Brun [] 6:11. See single [[female symbol]] Bari 5 ft up in rather thick scrub (like almost all the scrub on this side of the mountain, it looks second growth). Silent. Alone. This site is about 40 ft away from a favorite Song perch of a Scan. [[female symbol]] Bari flies away immed. (Note: this is well within altitudinal range of Brun - my altimeter says 10,400 ft now, but it presumably isn't working) [] Scan [] 6:25 a.m. Hear Whitestart Song. Completely overlapped by Scan. Whitestart shuts up. Scan continues NODWAH. [] Scan [] 6:28. Hear and see tricolor Singing. Conventional Atlapetes-type Whistle Song. Bird perched 3 ft up dense second growth scrub. Song completely overlapped by Scan. tricolor shuts up. Flies down into denser scrub. And I hear "Greeting Twitters" from the area. See same tricolor a few minutes later a few yds further on Very low in scrub, almost ground. Flies off. Hear more Twitters This presumably is a pair. But apparently not associated with other species. Really quite noisy on the whole. Follow pair for some time. Definitely alone. Sun up over mountains 6:50 See group Plush-caps, including at least 2 juvs, moving thru mixed bamboo scrub. Quiet. Apparently alone. Arrive crest of pass 7:15. Everything very quiet except for Colibri Songs and girl campers!
