Mixed Diglossini, Oct 22, 1963, II.
[[circled]] 20 [[/circled]]

[] General Diglossini [] comparable to the situation in southern and central Peru. Territories of different species do not usually overlap. Unfortunately, I do not yet know if inter-specific disputes occur frequently.

I think that the Orange head (probably Thlypopsis ruficeps) may be a member of the Diglossa-Conirostrum group. Perhaps the relationships between genera are more or less comme ça:

[[labels]]
Poospizopsis
Diglossa
Conirostrum
Coereba
Thlypopsis
? Basileuterus

[] General [] It may be significant that I have seen no indications of flower-piercing by CC's or Thlypopsis south of the Quito region This confirms the general impression that competition between different species of the group is stronger in the south than in the north.
