sight of one another.

Carbo continues singing steadily until 5:57. Then shuts up.

[[margin]] Carbo [[/margin]] The type and length of his singing would suggest that he is more highly motivated today than on previous days of observation.

Can hear a few R patterns in bushes 6:00 am. Then silence.

Then B back in same bush. Apparently alone????? A few more song phrases as before. Also quite a lot of "twittery" R's. All hidden in scrub. Then silence 6:05.

Then see B sitting in same bush. [[underlined]] Lots [[/underlined]] of B W and preening. Then more songs. Another bird uttering R-Zazas not far away.

Did cap occur earlier, in connection with twittery R's???

Then bird flies off. [[underlined]] No more song. [[/underlined]]

One B back. Feeding silently. Gone again

[[margin]] Carbo [[/margin]] Again B silent in bush. Gone again 6:17. Then back. Sings. Gone again. Back. Sings again. Chases mate as (she) flies by. Swerves off. Lands with twittery R. I [[underlined]] think that the [[female symbol]] is nest-building. [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] goes to join her by presumed nest site. Lots of twittery R's. I can't see a thing.

Then both gone. Some "Ta zee" song in distance. Then both back. R-Zazaza. Definitely no cap. Both gone again. No song. 6:25.

Finally see B's feeding quietly in scrub. 6:32. [[female symbol]] B attacks hummingbird. No display

Now only [[female symbol]] around.

[[margin]] Carbo [[/margin]] Both the wings and tail of the [[female symbol]] are so brownish that I wonder if she could be a first-year bird?

[[female symbol]] sitting quietly. Almost no movement. [[male symbol]] lands below her No "Greeting". [[female symbol]] just looks down, and [[underlined]] starts to TF very vigorously [[/underlined]]
