Lots of these birds around the clearing
[[Gray hatch]] = Plain Tanager = inornata
[[Blue hatch]] = Golden-masked Tanager = larvata

[[left margin blue]]
The CN of the Golden-masked is relatively loud and hard (compared with the CN's of most tanagers of other genera) and comparatively frequent. Often uttered in series when the birds are flying about actively.

[[left margin gray]]
The plain tanagers seem to have the same wing- and tail-flecks as most other tanagers, and the same CN's as the golden-masked.

[[left margin gray]]
Their CN's are sometimes suddenly greatly increased and hurried when one bird flies off, particularly when a flock flies off. Form little trills. Much faster & more numerous notes in a trill than in any CN performance of any other tanager genus I have heard. Almost a sort of "song".

[[left margin gray]]
This is certainly the most highly social of the tanagers around here now. Travels in large & very restless flocks of 10-20 birds (One of the flocks seems to have a single blue Tanager associated with it!)
