I now have another Golden-mask in the aviary.  An adult ([[male symbol]]?) in perfect brilliant plumage. Banded blue left.

So far as my observations go, wild golden-masks seem to be more likely to visit captive birds than wild Plains. This would suggest that the apparently lesser degree of gregariousness of the golden-masks is due to their stronger or at least more overt hostility. (The fact that wild Plains visit less often may be due to the fact that individual wild Plains are always "distracted", to some extent, by other Plains outside the aviary.)

There wasn't much in the way of reaction to the new bird today The other captive Golden-masks did follow the newcomer around; and some of their following attempts were so vigorous that they may have been supplanting attacks. But there was very little in the way of display, except for ordinary single and accelerated series of CN's.

The only new thing was a slightly different call. Short bursts of notes (possibly each burst itself should be considered a single note); "Kreeee kreeee kreeeee kreeee". [[squiggle drawing under each "kreeee"]]. Each "Kreeee" sounded like an accelerated and somewhat slurred burst of single CN's. Each "Kreeee" differed from an R in so far as the individual "vibrations", the "[[squiggle drawing]]" quality, were
