was much like that of the other pairs I have watched at a comparable stage of the breeding cycle. The male accompanied the female to the nest; but did not build himself. Both birds uttered CN Trll's whenever they flew in to the nest (once, one or both may have uttered "Sreeeeeeee" notes instead) Both birds also drove off a pair of Red-legs in an adjacent tree, by means of unritualized supplanting attacks.

I shall call this pair "x"

Plain colored first shows up 6:12. Building. I think female alone. Not moving. Not more than a trace of CN Trll. Then gone again immediately. Back again 6:30. Male escorting female. CN Trll as they arrive. Female goes to build immediately. Then preens. Then both fly off again. Back again in a few minutes. More or less as before. CN Trll's by both birds both approaching and leaving the nest.

Then back again 7:00 a.m. CN Trll's while flying in. Female straight to nest male hops around feeding. Utters 2 "Sreeeeeeeee" notes while hopping near the nest. Then flies up to nest to look at female or peer into the nest. Utters 1 "Sreeeeeeeee" note as he does so. Then male goes back to feeding, silently. Finally both birds fly away with more CN Trll's.

Leaving myself 7:15 a.m.
