July 5 II

Still this Rasp-DC has little in the way of associated ritualized postures. Bowing, playing, is always very slight.

Gulls certainly recognize their own chicks at this age.

Chick, (white very conspicuous underneath, but not primary feathers), apparently FB with trace of T, and also, apparently, whistle. Also utters rasp & says D.C. very frequently, correlated, in some cases, with approach of flying bird, or scream by parent, or departure of parent, but sometimes, however, not visibly correlated with anything in particular 4:37.

Highest intensity D.C. by solitary chick is without trace of bowing. Just stands alert

Some adults, at least, give AC before attacking chicks.

Better leave 4:42, as birds are not really quiet.

Ground CC given by birds alarmed by blind, followed by series of ALC's.

D.C. with definite bows or head-bob's by chick before FB.
