He told us to make choice of some piece of land, and then he would take us home or to Washington by one of two routes.

rather go to the Omahas.  He said the Omahas would be brought down here too, and told us to select one of the pieces.  We replied we have said already that we do not want to, we want to go home; take us back home.  He then said, "Do you say you will not select a reserve here?"  We said "Yes, we will not."  He then said we would be driven down here by the soldiers at the point of the bayonet if we did not come peaceably "and don't blame me for it" he added.  "You can go home."

We said we don't know the road, give us a paper that we may find our way straight
