[[underline]] Kennedy Center Audit [[/underline]]

P.L. 94-119, authorizing appropriations for the non-performing arts functions of the Kennedy Center, was approved by the President on October 21.

The measure is an extension of existing authority, but a new section was added by the Senate authorizing the General Accounting Office to review and audit on a regular basis the accounts of the Kennedy Center for the purpose of determining the ability of the Center to pay its share of future operating costs and to assure that the cost-sharing formula on which Federal appropriations for the Center are currently based fairly and accurately reflects the use of the building.

The audit is not intended for the performing arts themselves, but rather for maintenance, security, information, interpretation, janitorial and other necessary services for the Center.
