Dear Mr. Bier,

Do have my thanks for your letter of March 26th with enclosure of a print of a drawing by DORE. It looks indeed like a very lovely work of his - but to be perfectly frank, I consider the price much too high. I have had several - 2 or 3 of them - very important watercolors and I have sold them at prices hardly as high as the one you quote.

Nevertheless, keep an eye on it and should the owner, bye and bye, show a different mood, do let me hear about it again. Meanwhile, I will keep the print - unless you should wish me to return it.

In my letter to you of March 19, I had specifically mentioned first No. 41 of the April 2nd Sotheby auction - an early circular miniature of a nobleman which attracted me much, judging of course from the catalogue's reproduction. In your answer you completely omitted this item and at this writing it is unfortunately too late to cable and obtain an answer before Monday morning. I am [[underlined]] rather put out [[/underlined]] about this.

Now reverting to the GILOU Auction: -

No.88 - I am dumbfounded at your doubts, as it looks so very attractive - but you certainly must have excellent reasons, being able to have the mirror in hand.

No.87 - without wishing to upset you - does not appeal to me - it is a little too "maniéré", for my taste.

No.58 - I agree there with you and we will drop it.

No.70 - is indeed a very fine bronze, but I have had years ago the NEWALL one, as well as another one - they were both difficult to sell, hence y reluctance to bid for this one.

As regards, No.57 - in view of your comments, we will drop it too.

Thus, it leaves but #69 which [[underlined]] I am very anxious to acquire [[/underlined]] after you have had an opportunity of looking at it anew and I will expect your opinion about it, as well as your valuation.

With best regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
