August 3, 1962

Dear Mr. Bier:

Do have my thanks for your letter of August 1st with enclosure of your invoice of even date for the parcel-gilt silver chain, in the amount of $704.70 (seven hundred and four dollars and seventy cents). Herewith you will find my personal check on the Bankers Trust Company, New York, No. 459, dated August 3rd, in full settlement thereof.

Your suggestion of shipping it on with the bronzes, air freight-charges forward, in the first days of September is, of course, agreeable.

It is so kind of you to ask my wife and me to join you both in Zermatt and do have our appreciation of your charming invitation. As much as we would like to do so, this will, unfortunately, not be possible, as we will be hosts to one or two friends whom we expect during the second half of August.

I follow well your reasoning regarding the David marble, but I want you to know that I am interested should a definite authorship be established, as I wrote to you previously. The Bandinelli circle is a sort of generic terminology, for I recall that years ago when we had a very similar one - in fact very close to yours - Bandinelli was the name suggested. Be this as it may, let me hear from you anew in this connection bye and bye.

With kindest thoughts to your charming wife and to you, in which my spouse joins me,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
