Dear Germain,

I thank you for your letter of the 29th January which only arrived yesterday morning. Thanks for enquiring about our health, I had a short spell of 'flu, however it was very mild. The Hong Kong 'flu has not arrived here yet in strength.

I had a quick look at the Alma-Tadema (Christie's 11th February lot 133). This was under very bad light conditions, but I thought it worth while to have it photographed. My impression was of an attractive drawing, only slightly faded. At the back of the drawing is the label of Arthur Tooth & Co. Christie's valuation is only Gns. 25, which I find too modest. If you are interested please send me a cable, but please leave the final decision to me, as I should like to see it again in good daylight.

I understand from Sotheby's that they will have a good sale with a Prud'hon female nude in March.

Please forgive me if I do not go into the matter of expenses today, as I have still quite a few letters to write. Please also apologize to Mr. Projes that I have not so far answered his request for expense.

Many thanks for the good photograph of the Carle Vernet.

I understand that there has been an exhibition at the Cloisters of Medieval Art from Private Collections, do you think you could possibly be kind enough to send me a catalogue. Many thanks.

With kind regards from both of us to Ethleyne and yourself,

Yours,
