The condition of the specimens is good throughout, no insects having been found in the entire collection. This, however, is owing to the constant vigilance which has been exercised over them, a very considerable portion of the collection (for example all of series 1, 3, 5, and 7) being at present contained in cabinets which afford no security whatever against insects. Series 2, while absolutely free from insects is yet in very unsatisfactory condition on account of over-crowding, the specimens being thereby much injured.

Suitable cases have however been ordered for the proper accommodation of series 1 and 2, and it is hoped that others may be provided for the remainder of the collection as soon as practicable.
