of climbing long flights of stairs. My recommendation with regard to this matter would be, to place the cases containing or intended to contain the collection of smaller birds between the museum cases, in the position now occupied by the glass-topped table-cases. This would give ample room for the entire collection, not only in its present extent, but also when greatly increased in bulk. Should the space on the museum floor be needed for other purposes, the corresponding space in the galleries might serve the purpose, although the weight of the unit and quarter-unit tables might prove an objection, on account of the possibly insufficient strength of the gallery supports.

(3) A suitable working room for the Curator, located as near as possible to the exhibition hall. I am at a loss to name a room that would answer the purpose, none being large enough. The room should be no smaller than that now occupied in the South Tower. Perhaps the best arrangement would be to take out the cases in one of the galleries of the exhibition hall (say that of the north-east corner), and fit
