[[underline]]Work of assistants[[/underline]].

Mr. Marshall, taxidermist of the department of birds, mounted during the month 21 specimens for the exhibition series.

Mr. C. W. Shoemaker has rendered the usual efficient assistance in clerical work, etc., besides performing the duties of messenger.

Mr. J.L. Ridgway has rendered efficient aid whenever his services have been asked, but a considerable portion of his time has been devoted to the preparation of outline drawings for Dr. Yarrow, in accordance with instructions of the Assistant Director.  The work which he has done for the Department of Birds during the month has consisted in preparing generic outline drawings, in taking special charge of the removal of the egg-collections to the Museum building, and other matters of like character.
