Pei Hwang is a jade ornament of semi-circular shape, attach-ed to the girdles: the "Hwang" part on the top and "Pei" being on the bottom. There are three holes through which the silk shrings pass.
It is of greenish color, decorated with fine lines and a phoenix on each end, craftsmanship of which is unexcelled. It was excavated at Hsia Hs1, Chek1ang and secured by the late Viceroy Tuan Fang.

This Yu Tseh was excavated from Sianfu, Shensi. The jade substance is fine and white with a coat of mould of black color, inscribed with decorations of dragon lines. As can be seen in the workmanship is of the highest order and unrivalled in later periods.

This was an emblem of authority given to his ministers by the Monarch of old, having been carefully kept for thousands of years without any sign of defects--a rare jade specimen indeed. [[/blue type]]
