coveries of patient also may be added as a new class. The recurrent occurrences of inquiries about the general course of events of the next ten days,or what is known as [[underlined]]hsün[[/underlined]]-divination seem to be such a persistent practice that they deservedly form a class by themselves. So the following new classification is proposed:

1. Chi (祭) Sacrifice.
2. Kao (告) ^[[?]]
3. Hsiang (享) Offering.
4. Hsing-chih (行止) Going on and stopping.
5. Tien-yü (田漁) Hunting and fishing.
6. Cheng-fa (征伐) Military expedition.
7. Nien (年) Year's crop.
8. Yu(including wind rain and fog) (雨) ^[[Weather]]
9. Chi (霽) Sky clearing.
10. Liao ([[Chinese character]]) Recovering.
11. Hsün (旬) Ten-day-divination.
12. Miscellaneous.

It is not to be supposed that this class is all inclusive, for a great number of these archaic characters are not yet deciphered; further research will likely lead to new discoveries. On the whole, however, the most important classes must be already in this list. In Lo Chêng-yü's compilation, the following frequencies have been given:

[[strikethrough]]Lo's[[/strikethrough]]

Class 1 | 538
Class 2 | 32
Class 3 | 6
Class 4 | 177
Class 6 | 196
