Western Union Telegraph Expedition - Report of Henry T. Fisher, January 1, 1867

About the Project

What preparation is required for a mission into largely unknown territories? Henry T. Fisher, Surgeon-in-Chief of the Western union Telegraph Expedition, tells us in his report of the activity accomplished in 1866. Fisher recounts the tragic deaths of the crew members who perished while on the expedition, including naturalist Robert Kennicott, and lists the causes of their deaths, such as “congestion of the brain.” Please join us in this project to transcribe his descriptive reporting on expedition members’ health and many more ups and downs of 1867 with your fellow #volunpeers!
