Doris Holmes Blake - Correspondence with Lucy Wentworth Holmes, December 1950 - March 1951

About the Project

As the seasons of life change, relationships grow and evolve themselves. For much of Doris Holmes Blake's correspondence with her mother, Lucy Wentworth Holmes, it was Lucy who asked after her granddaughter's welfare, eager for the latest news of her only grandchild's adventures. But at this stage, in 1950 and 1951, her granddaughter is a student at Radcliffe College in Boston, not far from Lucy in Stoughton, Massachusetts, and it is instead Lucy who is relaying news of the young woman to Doris. How much did Doris depend on her mother for news of her child? Dig in with your fellow volunpeers and see what you can find!
